Helicopter Services

Pawan Hans is resuming daily helicopter services from 12th May 2005, from Agastya Muni (distt. Rudraprayag) to Kedarnath. Flight will depart from Agastya Muni daily between 6:30 am to 11:10 am, by a 5-seater Bell 407 helicopter. Agast Muni is located 17 km beyond Rudraprayag enroute to Kedarnath. Rudraprayag is about 140 km.......

Traditionally, the journey (yatra) is done from the west to the east starting from Yamunotri, then proceeding to Gangotri & finally to Kedarnath & Badrinath. Yamunotri & Gangotri fall under Uttarkashi district in Garhwal region of Uttaranchal. Badrinath falls under Chamoli & also house three out of five Panch Kedar, Panch Badris, Sacred Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib, skiing paradise. Auli & the legendary Valley of Flowers. The holy pilgrimage of Kedarnath nestles in Rudraprayag.
Although Chardham are accessible through a network of motorable roads, arduous trails remain the ancient sancturies of faith for fulfilling experience.

The shrine of Yamunotri, source of the river Yamuna, is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas, perched atop a flank of Bandar Poonch peak & situated opposite to Gangotri.

The picturesque pilgrimage in the hnterlands of the Himalayas is the most sacred spot where Ganga, the stream of life, touched earth for the first time. According to mythology, Goddess Ganga, the daughter of heaven, manifested herself in the form a river to absolve the sins of king Bhagirath's predeccessors, following his severe penance of 5500 years, Lord Shiva received into his matted locks to minimize the impact of her fall.

At Yamunotri & Gangotri, the pilgrims are cleansed body & soul & with having achieved purity in that sense, pilgrimage to Sri Kedarnath becomes most rewarding. It is also customary to worship Lord Shiva with water of Ganga.
Badrinath - Abode of Lord Vishnu
Badrinath Dham is one of the oldest of Hindu places of worship. On the right bank of the river Alaknanda lies the sacred shrine perched at an altitude of 3133 m above sea level, guarded on either side by the two mountain peaks Nar & Narain with the towering Neelkanth peak providing a spelndid back drop.
